Sony Ericsson C901 Review

Welcome to the Sony Ericsson C901 Green Heart mobile phone review. The C901 Green Heart released in mid 2009 is Sony Ericsson’s first official attempt at manufacturing  phone that is kinder to the environment to manufacture.  Admittedly there are two versions of the same phone one made from normal materials and another SE claim that is made partly made from recycled materials.

The C901 is yet another mid-range mobile phone from SE and another ‘Cybershot’ model.  However the camera on this phone is a 5 megapixel model and claimed by others as one of the better ones amongst in crowded offering by the various manufacturers.  Again we didn’t download any cause we’re so late in posting this review.  See other Website Info page on the website to see why we are having so many problems!

Remember guys and gals more megapixels do not mean its a better camera even with a Xenon flash. In fact – despite the larger image size the quality is WORSE than the 2MP Kodak DC3400 camera made 8 years ago.  Demand better pictures.

The construction quality is good but nothing special and we felt that this was another updated K800i with a better screen and camera and faster speed.  It’s missing the construction detail that SE where once renown for.  In fact it seems to designed to look ‘old’.

In terms of functionality it basically all there.  games, world clock, organiser, alarms, themes and do forth.  Of note is the updated ‘media center’ application and in phone image manipulation applications.  You won’t really want for any thing more if you’re after a decent do it all mobile phone.

There is lots of standard memory up to 100MBs dependent on configuration and can be expanded by the usual M2 memory stick.  We also thought the FM radio with RDS was actually quite good.

Overall a good and decent mobile phone.  It feels and looks OK and has all you need for calls, email, texting and music.  Being 3G capable it does work well on mini-mobile sites and email.  However there are many competitors in this category so do check them especially Nokia. A very low key but decent mid-range phone that does most things.
