Welcome to the Sony Ericsson C902 mobile phone review. The Sony Ericsson C902 when released in early 2008 was marketed as a top-range mobile phone and the successor to the K850i.  As a result it has most of the features you could want on a mobile phone in 2008.  It's not an exceptional model like the k800i. Since this review is being completed in 2009 the C902 is now quite a good deal since it is probably no longer manufactured. When released it wasn't cheap and hence not popular overall. The standout feature is a decent 5MP camera but it's LED based flash of course and that is does look good although a little conservative.   It's also quite thin and feels like a quality mobile phone.  By 2008 standards this is a pretty decent phone with all the features you could want.  However since this was compared with the other newer Sony Ericsson's which we posted the quick reviews on it doesn't stand out in any way.  In fact by 2009 standards it's very mid-range or less. Buy the C902 in 2010 based on price alone look out for those priced under $200AUD at a number of online stores. Overall yet another good and decent mobile phone.  It doesn't feel or look like a cheap phone and has all you need for calls, email, texting and music.  Being 3G capable it does work well on mini-mobile sites and email.  However there are many competitors in this category so do check them especially Nokia. Very low key lower end mid-range phone that does most things. Specifications

  • Sony Ericsson C903 Review

    hyp4mhz
Welcome to the Sony Ericsson C903 mobile phone review. The SE C903 when released in early 2009 was marketed as yet another mid-range mobile phone.  As a result it has most of the features you could want on a mobile phone in 2009. We can't say too much about it because our eyes glossed over after the procession of the 3 prior Sony Ericsson mid-range phones!  (It has only become interesting because of the pre-paid price tag of $159 in May 2010) Nonetheless if you want a slider phone then the C903 is another good choice.  It has all the functionality you need in a phone and as a bonus it looks like Sony's Cybershot camera on the back side.  The C903 comes in a variety of appealing colours link red, pink, silver and white with contrasting keypad colour so that helps.  It's also quite small in size and has a nice screen! Again, sure its got 3G but its data capabilities are hampered by the very basic web browser. I guess the selling point is the relatively high quality construction or materials and that it carries the C prefix.  All Sony Ericsson phones that carry the C are 'Cybershot' phones, meaning that they have decent still and video capabilities. A standout is that the C903 has built in A-GPS receiver.  As a result you should 't get lost.  The built in Tracker program is great for walkers, runners or cyclists to track their performance. Not many other mid-range phones from the other manufacturers have in-built GPS in this category so it's a bonus. GPS map data in either from Google Maps or by a program called Wayfinder.  The program where quite sluggish for some reason. Another standout is the music player software.  Of all the mobile phone manufacturers Sony Ericsson as usual includes a decent music player with EQ and album art. Since this is not a dedicated music phone as the 'W' series or Walkman phones but it's not bad certainly better than comparable Nokia or Smasung phones for example. There is lots of standard memory of at least 100MBs dependent on configuration and can be expanded by the usual M2 memory stick. As for pricing the C903 RRP is truly high-end because for the same price or less you can get a Nokia E71 with Wi-Fi with it's easily superior construction and functions for less.  Sure the E71 doesn't have the same level of camera or music quality but it is pretty close - everywhere else the E71 eats the C903 completely.  So buy only if it's cheap eg. under $300AUD. Overall a good and decent mobile phone. It doesn't feel or look too cheap in isolation and has all you need for calls, email, texting and music.  Being 3G capable it does work well on mini-mobile sites and email.  However there are many competitors in this category so do check them especially Nokia. Another low key but decent mid-range phone that does most things. se_c903_2 Specifications

  • Sony Ericsson C702 Review

    hyp4mhz
Welcome to the Sony Ericsson C702 mobile phone review. The SE C702 when released in mid 2008 and was marketed as a mid-range ruggerised mobile phone. It is squarely a mid-range phone with a claimed increase in protection from the outdoor elements than the other models in the SE mobile phone line up.  So you can comfortably use it on the beach of in the snow without fear of contaminating the electronics.  You can even accidentally drop the phone in a fish tank and retrieve it quickly without damaging the phone.  However it won't cope with swimming - not recommended but you get the drift. It has all the functions you could want for texting and calls.  As a bonus it is also a 3G phone as you get emails and internet.  Personally it could be any number of Sony Ericsson models hidden under the new case eg. an updated K800i.  But that doesn't matter because it is a good mobile phone.  It even comes in a range of colours. The C702 also features A-GPS with basic software dependent on country for navigation.  It is not close to Nokia Maps in terms of options since it uses Google for map data hence requires a 3G data to make the most of the GPS.  It previously used Wayfinder maps but since being bought out by Vodaphone maps data is only available if you are signed up with them. It's quite a fast phone coverall if you discount the animated menus. Being a 'C' class Sony Ericsson the phone packs in a decent camera for still images and video.  Arguably the quality is as many other reviews say a 'mixed' result.  We didn't download any samples.  Note the camera's 'flash' can be used as flashlight! Likewise the internet capabilities of the C702.  The browser works great for the networks carrier's websites but otherwise it doesn't work properly on all but the basic HTML pages.  Sure you can install Opera browser but you shouldn't have to.  The web browser doesn't have to be super fantastic but a little more functionality would be appreciated since it is now 2009. There is lots of standard memory up to 160MBs dependent on configuration and can be expanded by the usual M2 memory stick.  We also thought the FM radio with RDS was actually quite good - as usual.  For better sound quality you must try the Walkman headphones not the cheaper ones included with the standard packaging. Overall a very good and decent mobile phone with construction details that Sony Ericsson was once renown for. It's one of our favorites out of the 2009 range. The C702 is nice to hold and the quality details on the case like the securing screw and the buttons are great touches.  Unlike many of this competitors this phone doesn't look like a tough phone - except in black.  It is very stealth like!  Another low key mid range phone in price but more functionality than others.  It is also one of the few ruggerised 3G capable mobile phones and unlike most actually looks good. se_c702_2 Specifications

  • Sony Ericsson C901 Review

    hyp4mhz
Welcome to the Sony Ericsson C901 Green Heart mobile phone review. The C901 Green Heart released in mid 2009 is Sony Ericsson's first official attempt at manufacturing  phone that is kinder to the environment to manufacture.  Admittedly there are two versions of the same phone one made from normal materials and another SE claim that is made partly made from recycled materials. The C901 is yet another mid-range mobile phone from SE and another 'Cybershot' model.  However the camera on this phone is a 5 megapixel model and claimed by others as one of the better ones amongst in crowded offering by the various manufacturers.  Again we didn't download any cause we're so late in posting this review.  See other Website Info page on the website to see why we are having so many problems! Remember guys and gals more megapixels do not mean its a better camera even with a Xenon flash. In fact - despite the larger image size the quality is WORSE than the 2MP Kodak DC3400 camera made 8 years ago.  Demand better pictures. The construction quality is good but nothing special and we felt that this was another updated K800i with a better screen and camera and faster speed.  It's missing the construction detail that SE where once renown for.  In fact it seems to designed to look 'old'. In terms of functionality it basically all there.  games, world clock, organiser, alarms, themes and do forth.  Of note is the updated 'media center' application and in phone image manipulation applications.  You won't really want for any thing more if you're after a decent do it all mobile phone. There is lots of standard memory up to 100MBs dependent on configuration and can be expanded by the usual M2 memory stick.  We also thought the FM radio with RDS was actually quite good. Overall a good and decent mobile phone.  It feels and looks OK and has all you need for calls, email, texting and music.  Being 3G capable it does work well on mini-mobile sites and email.  However there are many competitors in this category so do check them especially Nokia. Welcome to the Sony Ericsson C510 mobile phone review.  The SE C510 when released in early 2009 was marketed as a mid-range mobile phone.  As a result it has most of the features you could want on a mobile phone in 2009.  Personally we think it is just a K800i that has been placed in a new case and updated menu graphics. The C510 is not a really cheap phone when compared to others from Nokia in the same category.  Sure its got 3G but its data capabilities are hampered by the very basic web browser. I guess the selling point is the relatively high quality construction or materials and that it carries the C prefix.  All Sony Ericsson phones that carry the C are 'Cybershot' phones, meaning that they have decent still images and video capabilities. The standout feature is a decent 3MP camera but it's LED based flash and that is does look like a its worth more than other obviously cheaper mobile phones however with a dated design theme.  The main camera is hidden behind a sliding metal-like protective cover open.  We also liked the animated menus and other operating system enhancements. There is lots of standard memory up to 100MBs dependent on configuration and can be expanded by the usual M2 memory stick.  We also thought the FM radio with RDS was actually quite good. The only thing that is below par is the relatively small keypad. It is not a large phone by any means but a tad bigger keys would help in the usability stakes for those with larger fingers.  Nonetheless a conservatively designed phone that would not be out of place anywhere. Overall a good and decent mobile phone with some construction detail.  It doesn't feel heavy or look too cheap and has all you need for calls, email, texting and music.  It's got a lovely screen too.  Being 3G capable it does work well on mini-mobile sites and email.  However there are many competitors in this category so do check them out especially Nokia. • Nokia 1209 Review

Welcome to the Nokia 1209 review.  The 1209 is probably the most basic and cheapest mobile phone you can probably buy new and 'outright'.  The 1209 has features top end mobile phones had 6 years ago!  Of course in 2008 we expect a lot more.  You can buy one from as little as $19 outright if you look hard enough. However you must remember that the 1209 is bargain bin material that would probably not look out of place in your average shopping center isle right next to the bargain toilet paper!  Mind you in some parts of the world namely developing countries this is amazing technology and no-one can knock that. The Nokia 1209 is mainly sold completely unlocked or outright and even as a pre-paid.  You can make calls and text messages and a few customization features like backgrounds and ring tones and a flash light.  There's not much memory for saving anything though.  It does not even have a FM radio. It's also got a tiny colour screen with ancient CSTN LCD display.  Using one of these phones really shows how far technology has progressed in such a short time. Overall we can see a few of uses for the Nokia 1209 in most parts of the world.  A first phone for the kids to stay in touch or an emergency phone when your expensive main mobile phone breaks down or you are not vaguely technically inclined and don't need to do anything more than talking.   There isn't much more to choose from at this end of the 'purchase' outright phone market. Mind you if you afford a few more dollars the models to choose from expand dramatically.  Just check out the brand pages for more! Specifications

  • Nokia 5130 XpressMusic Review

    hyp4mhz
Welcome to the Nokia 5130 XpressMusic review.  It was released earlier in 2009 but we only got a chance to see it in the flesh while comparing the T106 recently.  The Nokia 5130 XpressMusic is considered a lower end phone in terms of pricing.  Although not comparable to the Telstra T106 we did anyway! It runs the Nokia's mass market S40 operating system so - the screensaver and powersavers we develop will work on them!  As far was we are concerned the S40 is a fast and simple operating system. It's the small brother to the similarly named and more expensive 5310.  Hence the functionality is limited even compared to other higher end S40 based mobiles.  However what you do get is a still reasonably featured phone for playing music, making calls and texting, organizing your life including a fully featured alarm so you can wake up on time for everything.  Perfectly targeted to the younger crowd. The 5130 XpressMusic is not an iPod Touch by any means but as a standard mobile phone focused on playing music it does a great job. The standout feature is a proper 240x320 pixel screen that looks good.  It also has the industry standard 3.5mm earphone jack and the sound processor is music focused.  Although it does have a web browser this is not a 3G phone so your experience will be a bad one.  At least it has something for emergencies. There is not much else we can say about it - typical good but entry level Nokia mobile phone.  So if you want a phone that can do most things and want your music to sound good then this model may suit. However there are better ones out there that do much more for around the same price the catch is that the models are older than this one.  Eg. 6300.  Older is sometimes better. If you are considering the 5130 it may also be wise to look at alternatives from other manufacturers. Specifications

  • Telstra F858 Review

    hyp4mhz
Welcome to the Telstra F858 T2 ''EasyTouch' mobile phone review. The Telsta F8458  is based on the same operating system as the other Telstra/ZTE models so expect the same experience.  However it would appear that it is a relatively more stylish phone than the older F256 and the ugly T7.  Although branded an 'EasyTouch' the keys are much smaller than the newer T2 model. Based on a clam-shell or flip phone the construction is best described as OK.  It is not flasher to look than the other models but still a bit toy like. The screen size is smaller than the newest models which also counts against it.  As usual  based on our other Telstra phones it will probably be reliable though.  This model was released in late 2008 but we didn't get around to writing up anything about it till now! The functionality offered by the phone is no different from the other related models so you get all the basics for voice and video calls, texts, music, pictures, contacts, calendar, FM radio and internet.  You have to purchase other apps to get more interesting stuff.  Like the other phones in the Telstra/ZTE product range the web browser is next to useless on all but the Telstra WAP site. There are some enhancements to the OS interface by the inclusion of a 'Active' menu bar on the the home screen but that about it.  It is not as fast as the new models like the T2. All the latest Telstra branded mobile phones are now Windows and MacOS compatible.  However you must install the new 'JoinME' application on your PC or Mac before it you can Sync or backup data.  The 'JoinME' software is included with the phone and is relatively simple to use.  With the software installed you can also use the phone as a wireless broadband modem but you'd better have a decent data plan for that. Despite being a 3G or NextG phone it also has all the GSM and UTMS frequencies, including the more popular 2100mhz.  So you should be able to use the phone anywhere in the world for voice and data. Conclusion All up the Telstra F858 is OK if you want something different to look at compared to other Telstra branded phones but the new models are probably better looking then this one.  Even a T90 ot T106 would cause a stir style wise than the F858. • Telstra T2 Review

    hyp4mhz
Welcome to the Telstra T2 ''EasyTouch' mobile phone review. The Telsta T2 is based on the same operating system as the other Telstra/ZTE models so expect the same experience.  However it has been designed to target people who are upgrading from older mobiles non-3G mobiles or those who this is the first mobile phone. The operating system has been given a new 'theme' without flashy graphics.  It reminds me of the Nokia's of the late 90's.  The simplified menu system has been redesigned with large and easily recognized icons for the various features.  Although it does look simple all the basic features of a standard mobile phone is available.  The simplicity is only surface deep because there are quite a number of other menus that aren't all that simple to use after the in initial one. Based on a clam-shell or flip phone the construction is best described as sturdy.  The rubberised  rear of the case feels good but doesn't wear well.  Overall it is not flashy to look at but is quite sturdy.  It is much better than the older T7 though. Based on our other Telstra phones it will probably be reliable though.  The keys are big so that it is easy for the less dexterous to use.  The screen is a standard 2.4 inches although they would like us to think this is large for a phone - it isn't.  Strangely it has a smaller battery than the other models. If you've ever used a hearing aid you'll also know the squeaking feedback whenever you use a phone - apparently they have solved it and it is hearing aid compatible.  I suggest you try one first with your hearing aid to make sure its does work. Just activate T-Mode in tools menu for the function to work. Furthermore if Telstra where serious in catering for the older folk then they should have included an AM radio - at least for Australia to cater for country residents and a radio that does not need to have the headset connected to get a radio to work. Despite being a 3G or NextG phone it also has all the GSM and UTMS frequencies.  So you should be able to use the phone anywhere in the world. Conclusion All up the Telstra T2 is a perfect mobile phone for people new to or who haven't upgraded in years.  It is not flashy to use or look at but it does work.  Nice big buttons and sturdy construction phone.  This is the better choice than the F858 despite lacking the front music buttons.  Good phone.
