  • Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus Review

    BLANK
Welcome to the 2013 Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus mobile phone review. The Galaxy Ace Plus is priced under $200 at most retail shops and an upgrade to the original Ace. This Ace Plus version is equipped with a faster but older 1Ghz processor and some other enhancements. However in comparison to the equally priced Nokia Lumia 520 the Ace Plus isn't quite as good... In terms of construction the Ace Plus is just like the original although it takes a side by side look to tell the difference which revels a larger screen and size. It is well made in an industry standard way for this price range. In terms of specifications the low resolution screen is a turn off because its low resolution and hence washed out. It as an older 1Ghz CPU  which works OK. Apart from that there's is nothing really standout which is barely acceptable. There are better specified mobiles or even less that work better... In terms of use the Galaxy Ace Plus still uses the old Android 2.3 OS which means not all the latest Apps will work but the majority o f the popular ones for social networks will. The smoothness of the interface is not up to the latest versions which shows how far Android has come in the space of a few years. Most of the features but a few key features like hotpots appeared to be missing. Overall and in isolation the Ace Plus is an Ok sort of phone but when compared to others in the price range in particular the Microsoft OS based  Lumia 520 it shows its age. The Ace Plus needs the latest OS and a better screen for it to be any good and even then the 520 (as an example) is still better except for the number of 3rd party apps available for it. • Nokia Lumia 520 Review

    BLANK
Welcome to the 2013 Nokia Lumia 520 review. The 520 is the latest Windows OS based phones designed to complete with the low end of the mobile phone market. The Recommend retail price of the Lumia 520 is $229 but you can easily find it priced under $200 and as low as $169 as part of a pre-paid package. At this of price in 2013 there are no other phones that approach it in terms of functionality and options - read on for the reasons why! In terms of construction the 520 is very well made despite being made of plastic. I think its the matt and soft touch surface that lifts the quality feel of the phone. You can also change the color of the entire rear panel! The 520 feel better in the hand than any other phone in this price range - easily. In terms of hardware specifications the main thing missing from the Lumia 520 is a camera flash but it does come with a specific camera button on the side. The screen size and quality is excellent for a phone in this price range. The CPU is a dual core 1 Ghz but since Windows doesn't use much power AKA like the iPhone it is more than adequate. All the usual senors are present along with a slot for microSD card and standard battery life. In terms of use the Windows interface can be described as boring but it is very smooth, responsive and does everything you could reasonably want. It is certainly as good as Android phones and more responsive than even the iphone. All the functions are easy to find and quick to access including one of the best GPS navigation software on any platform, Xbox, Music  subscription services and MS Office - Word, Excel and Powerpoint editing capability. The Web browser is also one of the quickest on a phone. However as with all Windows phones at the moment there are a relatively small number of  3rd party Apps to choose from. If you don't mind using Windows 8 for mobile phones you'll be very happy with the Lumia 520. There's nothing else like with the same functionality for the under $200 price, which can only drop. Only the characteristics of Windows 8 for phones will annoy but we're sure Microsoft will fix them over time. In the end we highly recommend the Lumia 520 it is a very good phone on a budget. • Telstra Pulse T790 Review

    BLANK
Welcome to the 2013 Telstra Pulse (T790) mobile phone review. Released in May 2013 this model also took us by surprise since we thought it was the Frontier or Easytouch 4G model released  last year. ThePulse is hence very similar in design to the older and higher  models but differing significantly in hardware specifications this model is clearly the lessor model. The Pulse Android OS based smart phone and priced at a very reasonable $79 AUD as a pre-paid package from most larger retailers. It is a far cry from Telstra's first cheap smart phones which we thought where market leading in terms of price only and nothing else! The Pulse is actually quite useful. The Telstra Pulse is terms of construction is like its more expensive relations so it does feel a little cheap but certainly sturdy enough to carry around without a case. The Pulse does feel Ok considering its price and it should last a year or two without any problems. In terms of hardware specifications the Pulse is definitely on the basic Android end of the market. It has low resolution screen, camera, battery capacity, graphics and so forth. Mind you its not the only model with this sort of specification but one of the few knows brands selling or this price. Thanks to a 1Ghz CPU and separate graphics CPU all the expected communication like email, skype, txt, Facebook and so forth will work perfectly. However forget about Instagram or any app that relies to getting decent camera pictures. However the low resolution screen will annoy but at least it all works. In terms of software the Pulse runs the latest Android OS which should help broaden the range of software you can run on it. Apart from the custom Telstra widgets there is nothing unique about this particular model. There are some micro lags when using but its not that bad compared to past models. It still runs well and at this price there's not many models to choose from. We can't really say much more, so the conclusion to the Telstra Pulse review is that it is a decent low end Android phone for those who don't want anything special but a cheap phone that can do most things. Its got more going it than price for a change! Specifications
